Hi Bert,
The "rebate" of a film is any area
where you don't actually have image on it... so in 35mm it would be the outside
edges and the area between the frames or at the ends of the roll... it is film
that has never been struck by light. It can say a lot about the processing of
the film, the age of the film, and in this case, the hypering of the
film.
