In fact I did not use the "hat-trick" for those shots. You might be right.
I had just guessed it was tracking error. The only problem with using the
"hat-trick" is that I am guiding with an OAG and ST-4. I think the
"hat-trick" would give the ST-4 grief.

Hello Matt,
The M27 is very nice. My experience has been that when I see the small
dashed line from the brighter stars, it is generally caused by an abrupt
motion like the closing of the camera shutter. You may want to use the
hat-trick method of beginning and ending an exposure if you don't aleady do
so. Congratulations on those nice shots.
