Re: [APML] RG 200 hypering

Hi Tony:
Thanks for the additional information. I haven't run across the term "rebate" applied to film: what is the "rebate"? The negative, a scan of the negative, a print, ....?

Subject: Re: [APML] RG 200 hypering

Hello All,

Forget anything I said a few weeks ago about hypering RG200... since this is a "new" film I have been working with, it took some shooting to probe out the characteristics of the film. The end conclusion is this: overhypering kills this film, just like many other films. The way to tell it has been overhypered is... it will have a bluish color in the rebate... this means that too many receptor sites have been hyper fogged and won't record anything anymore. The correct color for the rebate is a slight darkening and a slight move towards the brown but still a definite orange tinge. If you hold an unhypered and hypered rebate next to each other you will see this subtle difference. Why is this important? Because no two hypering set-ups are the same... what counts is what the film looks like out of YOUR set up...

Hope this helps... sorry for the initial misinformation,

PS:  Jerry tells me that Kodak is "improving" the RG films...
better grab some old stuff now while it is still available.
