I have the Losmandy DSBS plates and used to use them extensively.  They
do add a bit of weight (especially if you need to use DMMs), and they
require balancing in two directions instead of just one.

The configuration that I prefer nowadays is a Losmandy DAP plate on both
the bottom and top of the OTA rings.  I mount the guide scope up top (on
DR rings).  This is much easier to balance and weighs less.  Although
you may not find off-the-shelf rings and blocks for your OTA, they are
not too difficult to fabricate.
