Bill:
Not So!!
For a vacuum camera back, the level of vacuum is very low, just enough to 
keep the film pulled flat to the perforated backing plate. The typical 
aquarium pump should work just fine. The pumps available from Hutech for the 
Mitsuboshi cameras and the Toyo vacuum backs use a very small, battery 
powered vibrator type pumps.

You might confusing vacuum for camera backs versus vacuum for hypering film.
Film hypering, you would be correct.
