Hi Steve!
    Is it humid where you live? Maybe moisture killed it???
I'm in Michigan and I built a dry air purge system with Herm's help. It
really works good. If you live in a humid area you may want to try it.
    f/7.5 with 10 inches of apature? It should have showed up on your
negative quite well I would think. Mine was f/10 at 8" of apature.
