RE: [APML] Film, CCD mix.
Jason, I like this image alot except for two minor points. First, the field
is just a tad too small, maybe you can get another 20 percent or so with a
reducer. Second, there is a dark "aura" around the bright Hygenian region
near the core that is simply not right. I think this occurs when you dont
get the feathering just right on pasting the core in. The colors look nice,
not the inccorect blood red we see so often, but that rich lovely pink. I
hope you can hang this fine trophy on the wall, its color and composition
would certainly enhance any observatory!
Chris

OK, this isn't toooo bad for a first attempt. Especially
considering it was done from Dallas with a 98% moon.
I don't have a color wheel but I have 15 years worth
of color film images, so why not use those for the
color data and a high res CCD for the luminance?
Luma was done with a Yankee Robotics 6303 6mpix CCD
at prime focus of a Meade 16" LX200 at f10 in
Alt/Az mode with Field Derotator.
3 shot mosaic, each 4x10 minutes. Core was 2 x 5 minutes
and 2 x 30 seconds.
Its a little contrasty so I may rework it after some
turkey.
