[APML] Adapting Nikon lenses to Canon SLR

Hi list,
does anybody know of a viable way (commercial or DIY) to fit manual Nikon 
lenses (original brand or third-party) onto Canon SRLs? Of course, there 
should be no additional correcting lenses, which are mostly of poor quality 
and would introduce aberrations. 

This way, one could have a very good flexibility without shelling out a 
fortune. 

Any insight will be appreciated.
