Stuart, this brings an interesting point into view - for anything other than
red objects, I can far outdo film for a given exposure with the CMOS at
ASA1600 and much less grain than the Supra 400 I have been using.  But No
reds!  It seems after all there really is a use for film...

Cool factor is VERY high! I bought the Nikon D70 but other than aurora
(which I think it did a
GREAT job on) I don't plan to use it for astro. I think the real appeal is
the field of view of the
DSLRs - incredible when you compare to the equivalent purpose-built ccd
camera.
