[APML] OT: Power surge/aurora?

Hey all -

Sorry for the OT thread but I wanted to get your thoughts.  On both of my
systems, I have APC UPS/surge protectors.  This past Tuesday afternoon(9th)
all of the sudden both of them started to make clicking sounds for about 5
minutes.  The APC manuals don't state this noise as any kind of "status"
such as low battery etc.  Both computers kept running fine.  But now I
wondering if it was a power surge caused by the intense aurora that hit that
afternoon?  I know geomagnetic storms can and have affected power grids.
What do you think?  Btw, the APC units never made a sound before nor have
they done it since Tuesday.....

Thoughts?
