[APML] Layers

All,

I'm just reading about layers in Jerry's book. It's far simpler than I
thought, but it leads me to this question. Typically, when I work on an
image, I have repeatedly worked on levels, curves, etc, and continued
to chip away at the image. I may go in and work 6 different times, on
each different adjustment, saving each time.. Because I wasn't using
layers, would the old technique adversly effect the overall image? As
opposed to working on separate individual layers and then flattening
when done. Or would it not make much difference? Just would like to
know if my stupidity has been causing me problems.
