I have been doing one pre-scan with the hope that it would be good for
the rest. Sounds like a lucky guess to me.

Supposedly, it scans at 4000. I'm going to start using that, just in
case I've been losing data. I am really glad I got that 160GB HD when I
ordered this computer. 8-)

Here's another ?: From now on, I will be running my un-cut negatives
down to Ashland to have them mounted in slide mounts. Will I be able to
use the same scanner settings on them? What I'm unsure of is that while
they are negatives they will be sitting farther away from the CCD like
regular slides do. Will the scanner focus on them correctly, or will I
need to change the pre-scan dialog to 'slide' media?
