RE: [APML] Solar Sail Test Vehicle

The Solar Sail will orbit the earth at an altitude of 800 km, so they can get telemetry data off the sails.  They want to answer design questions, not actually launch it into deep space.

Unless I misunderstand the project, the solar wind should push it out of orbit and into interplanetary space, unless their sail controls don't work well/long.  While Sagan may be getting credit, I think (if my memory is working) it was Azimov's idea 50-ish years ago, and maybe he even expanded on an earlier concept.

So how many people are looking forward to having an object as bright as the full moon orbiting the earth every 90 minutes?
