I understand you very well. We are dealing with many critical aspects, and we can "waste" several hours in one single exposure. It's always difficult to make changes that could mess everything.
You can try that with a smaller film roll. Make some shots (12, for example), and cut the film. Put the exposed part in a black plastic cilinder (those in wich the film chasises came), and seal it. Then, go with it to a professional photo lab and tell them to push it, and to be aware that the film is "nude" <bvg> (sorry, I don't know the right english words for that pieces).
