If the histogram is cut off, then you are not getting all of the info on 
the slide or neg in the scan.

The question is, what do your E200 original slides look like on the light 
table?  Is the sky background completely black?  If it is, you will always 
have a very difficult time scanning them, no matter what settings you use.

You really have to expose slide film long enough so that there is a lot of 
density in the sky, that is, so that the sky is not black. It should have 
some color to tone to it.  Otherwise, the scanner will really have a hard 
time scanning it.

Probably. It depends on what the original looked like.
