Hi Phil,
you won't get good results blurring all the image and after sharpening all
another time. Try SGBNR (the tool included in PixInsight) to remove the noise,
or at least another noise supression tool (Neat image or Noise Ninja...).
By applying a gaussian blur to all the image and after sharpening it,
you are losing a great amount of data. In fact, it's like you were doing
the photo with a poor telescope that produces large stars and "not-sharpen"
images, and you weere solving the problem of such poor telescope by
sharpening the image. Try SGBNR (well, I recommend you before applying
SGBNR to supress small scale noise with wavelets in PixInsight) and
exploit all the advantage your Tak can take.
