RE: [APML] Laser vs. Star Collimation
Ray,
Thanks for forwarding me this SCT collimation method! It's quite
straightforward and I like the fact that you can make the adjustments on the
secondary mirror while seeing the results from the CCD without having to
move back and forth.
On the topic of laser collimation, I had looked at Kendrick's laser
collimation method, and its seems to be sensitive to overall optical axis
misalignment, not just collimation. In fact, the main purpose of my email
posting is to hear from APML users that have used both laser and star
collimation on SCT's and/or Newtonians, to find out what they see as the
pros and cons of laser vs star collimation and their recommendation as to
which one they favour and why.
