Re: [APML] OT: All things come to an end...

Hi,

Do you live near the sea or other mass of salted water?

No, the observing site is about 200 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Most
people think that because I live in San Antonio, Texas, home of the Alamo,
etc., that I must be in some sort of dry desert-like area. Don't let the
John Wayne movies fool you. San Antonio and the local area is actually
quite cloudy and humid. There is virtually no topography between us and the
Gulf Coast so without a strong north wind the Gulf clouds and humidity sweep
back up to this area freequently accompanied by plenty of rain.

If I had it to do all over again 20 years ago, I would have gone with a
fiberglass observatory. But back then Technical Inovations didn't exist and
ObservaDomes were (are!) for the rich.

But on the upside, now I can spend way less time on building maintinence and
lots more on actually observing. There were many a clear night that turned
cloudy where I shut down the telescope, turned on the outside lights and
started caulking and painting at midnight.
