A member of our local astronomy club , www.bas-astro.com , posted an
excellent aurora report. I'm waiting to get his permission before
posting it here. BTW we are in Birmingham Alabama, around 34 degrees
North latitude.
Perhaps the aurora on the southern horizon you saw was caused by an
annomally in the Earth's magnetic field?
A gross supposition on my part, based on watching the NOVA program
"Magnetic Storm" last Tuesday on my local PBS station. Did anyone else
watch it?
