Re: [APML] Film Scanner Question
I use the Microtek 4000t still available at B&H Photo. It is the same
scanner as the Polaroid Sprintscan 4000, in fact they are the OEM of that
scanner. I like mine OK but if I was buying another one today I would get
the firewire version model 4000tf as the SCSI connection can be flakey and
prone to crashes out of the blue. Canon is making a new 4000dpi scanner for
$550.00 the Microtek Artixscan 4000t is $470.00 the 4000tf (firewire)
$700.00 after rebate, Minolta has a new one out called DiMAGE Scan Elite
5400, 5400 dpi at $830.00 I haven't used the new Minolta but had the older
model at work and never had any problems with it, other than it was pretty
slow, they had a lot of film profiles bundled, and excellent film holders.
Check http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ under digital darkroom then select the
scanner link, they are all on one page, at least here you will be able to
see them in photos and get a list of product details.
