Hi Dominic,

It's a bit late for this suggestion, but one thing I do with my web
site it make sure only offsite links have http://host/ in them.  I try
to make all my links relative in part because I run my own server and
have an internal test site for when I make PHP, JavaScript, or CSS
changes.  The purely relative links allow me to just copy the whole
tree to the live site.

As someone else pointed out, when you don't control the whole server
but only a subtree, using the base tag lets you use links relative to
that.  

None of the above really helps you with the move since you still have
to edit the files :-(
