I had a similar impression last winter when I shot with slide and negative
films. Both slide films (E200 and Provia 400F) show slightly fuzzier star
images than PJ400 or Supra 400. See my film test:

Unfortunately, the less than round star images (caused by a very gusty
wind) makes it hard to do quantitative measurements.
