Re: [APML] Re: APML on a Forum
Dale,
You probably don't notice anything odd, because you have a direct
Internet connection and Yahoo! emails are in HTML. I run my machines behind
a proxy server the result of which is that any email that wants to "go out"
brings up a proxy authentication box. All Yahoo emails try to get out to the
net, and it's not just for ads. Have a peek at the source code of the emails
from Yahoo!. These are from 1 email:

and

There's more going on than just putting an ad on your screen, especially the
one that is 1 pixel in size. I don't confess to know what all this is about,
but 1 pixel images are more often than not some kind of tracking or counting
system. Have you read the Yahoo! privacy policy? It sure rubs me the wrong
way! THIS is the difference between Yahoo! and APML. Gene doesn't lay this
baggage on us.

I like this mail list the way it is also but I am very curious as to why
you and others consider the yahoo lists so "painful" I belong to lots of
Yahoo lists. I don't see much difference between APML and the basic
yahoo mailing lists except Yahoo has many more options and better
flexibility. In plain text APML has the same amount of junk at the end
of each e-mail.
