Hi Gene,

Here are the advantages I see to having this on a web-based forum:

1) Following a thread is much easier than sorting through lots of email.
2) Users can go directly to topics of interest by clicking on thread titles.
3) Archival search is easier, plus previous threads can easily be linked
into messages for reference.
4) Identify the top 5 to 10 major categories (such as General Discussion,
Types of Film, Widefield, Hypering, Beginners, B&W, How-To, Medium Format,
Large Format, CCD, etc...) and separate them by folders. That way, people
not interested in a certain category avoids those threads entirely. Folk
looking for specifics can narrow down the threads by going to the
appropriate section(s).
5) Allows the APML community to expand into other possibilities (such as
polls, contests, etc...).
