Dear all,
The last few days has provided some fantastic displays of Aurora in Norway,
but unfortunately heavy clouds and rain has prevented most people from
seeing it! This was also the case where I live, in the South-Eastern part of
Norway about 20km South of Oslo, but on Wednesday evening the satellite
images indicated that there might be some clear skies a bit further south.
Together with a friend I decided to travel South in an attempt to find clear
skies. We where lucky and found a clear patch some 30-40km south. The
conditions where still less than ideal with extremely high humidity, but at
least we got to see and photograph the display. The Aurora covered the whole
sky, but maybe the most interesting part was that from our high latitude
(60° North) the most active region was towards zenith, East, West and South!
:-)
I have! made a few selected images from the night available at my homepage:

BTW; This image was shown twice on national TV on the day after! :-)

Best regards,
