Thanks Kevin, Bill and David--I learned a lot from your discussion, and
Kevin's pages now work perfectly in my antiquated Netscape 4.79 browser.

I tried Netscape 6 and Netscape 7, and didn't care for them.
I have IE6, but run Netscape because $Bill didn't want me to.

I use First Page 2000 (its a free download at  http://www.evrsoft.com)
to do my webpages.

I sometimes run into compatibility issues with the automatic html generated by
it.
Hints and kinks like you've brought out can make my pages available to more of
my friends who are not computer savvy enough to run multiple browsers until
they find one which works with my quirky code!
