Re: [APML] Provia concensus roundup
Hi Herm:
Probably not relevant to your question (you're interested in long exposures,
right?), but my experience with Provia 400F and the Leonids certainly raised
my opinion of it in relation to Centuria 800 and (ugh) Supra 800.

I shot mostly Kodak Supra 800 (unfortunately) thinking that for 20 and 30
sec meteor shots, its lousy reciprocity characteristics wouldn't matter.
Turned out that it was very underexposed at f/3.3 for 30 seconds. The Konica
Centuria did a little better, but not nearly as good as the Provia --- with
no push processing. I got better stars and a much better meteor on the
Provia than on either of the print films. Having given up on Supra 800 for
deep sky stuff a long time ago, I will now expunge it from my mind for any
purposes whatsoever! I plan on using Provia 400F for all my astro-emulsion
imaging after my supply of E200 runs out, and I will try the 1 and 2 stop
push that people are recommending.
