Re: [APML] Provia concensus roundup
Herm,
I have film test data that compares E200 and Provia400 at standard and
push+2 processing. That comparison is at
http://home.nethere.net/mpd/FilmTestData/FilmTestData.htm
I have shot several rolls of Provia400, push+2 now, and find that it must be
exposed correctly, not over exposed. I shoot at both f5 and f9. In fairly
dark skies (Mt Laguna CA) the Provia works well at 45 minutes at f5, but at
1 hour starts to show sky fog. Anything longer is hard to work with. In
comparison with the best color negative films, the Provia seems a bit more
sensitive to both blue and red nebula. I have never run into sky fog with
color negative films, even at f5 for 2 hour shots. The slide films are
noted for more contrast and less latitude than negative films. That's
apparently what causes the sky fog sensitivity of the slide film.
