Hi all,

It's always so much fun for me when I get to defend
the 201. :-)

There are 2 reasons why I think most people believe
201s suck. First, a lot of newbies (me among them)
think that all you'll have to do is put it in the off
axis guide port and away you go. So, they buy the 201
as their first autoguider, because it's cheap. There
is always a steep learning curve anytime you learn a
new piece of equipment. I'm convinced this is the
number one reason so many 201s get sold on astromart.

Second, it is now obvious to me that the instructions
that come with the Meade guiders were written by
someone who had never laid eyes on one, let alone used
one. Not only are they poorly written, they don't tell
you how to properly use it. There is little user
feedback on them and what little there is is buried in
the MAPUG archives.
