It has to do with the interpolation method used by the software.
Nearest Neighbor is the lowest quality and the fastest scan.
Bicubic gives you the best quality and the slowest scan.
The other choices are in between. That's the best answer I can give.
As for the 113mb file, you must have used 4000dpi and 12 bit when saving
the file. That would give you the largest file size.

I still want to know what the 'Resample Method' is,
and what the options mean. The default is 'nearest
neighbor'. The other options are: 1. Mixed mode 2.
Bilinear 3. Bicubic.
Someone's gotta know.
