[APML] leonid pic
Heres my take on the leonids..
I got the pics done yesterday, on 1 roll of provia 400F and fuji 800...the
400 was very overexposed at 3 mins, and 2 mins was borderline...I think 1
min through 1 and a half would have been right on @ 1.8 using my 50mm at my
site. All the provia shots were made with the moon facing opposite direction
of course and the moon was behind the mound.
The 800 speed captured more grain detail then meteor detail at 2 mins and
was just ugly with the effect of the moon, not to mention that my prints
were smudged by the 1 hour lab
A few high cirrus came through so I cut back to one min and the colour
balnce and lighting were right on, but no meteors.
I have 1 more roll to develope of the 800 and am in no hurry to get it
done..I am at a loss for words on how I didnt capture more then 3 leonids on
72 frames.
Fortunately they were in the same FOV and I can do a stack at least....all
in ursa major where the most action seemed to be.
I would have tested how long I could have shot for, but clouds were a
nuisance all week.
I am humbled at my experiance.
Ill try for the geminids, (dec 14th) with the provia at 1 min and see if
that works since there is a bright moon there also.
ZHR is 110.
Quadrantids on Jan are 60-200ZHR at midnight with no moon
anyways, just goto my homepage to see the result of the provia at 3
mins...only the brightest made its mark.
Kinda quiet around here with leonid pic postings...hope the rest of you
didnt have the same misfortune as me.
Brian
