RE: [APML] 1st BRC mosaic: heart & baby
Bobby,
Really nice shot. This must have been a lot of work. Did you have to
anti-vignette the shots. Having used the BRC, I have been a bit afraid to
attempt any mosaics with this scope dur to noticeable light dropoff in the
6x9 frame.
I got my BRC used and was dreading the thought of having to collimate this
scope. After receiving it, I got it mounted pretty quickly and to my
surprise, it was perfectly collimated. I know how difficult it is to
collimate an RC from my experience with my RCOS 12.5" f/9 scope. Till today,
I must say that I have never been able to perfectly collimate this scope. It
is very close but not perfect. Fortunately, the BRC came exceptionally well
collimated. I was racking the focus in and out and the concentricity of the
out of focused rings were exceptional. In fact it reminded me of the rings I
would see in typical AP/Tak refractor. Someone spent a lot of time
collimating this scope and till today it has remained in collimation. I am
not sure if it was TNR or Takahashi Japan who did this. Needless to say I
was pleasantly surprised. The unfortunate thing about this is that I am
afraid I would not be very useful in providing any assistance in
collimation. I read the manual (translated From Japanese) and I am very glad
I do not have to collimate this scope. I think the manual might require a
better translation. There was mention recently on Yahoo-Tak-uncensored group
regarding someone working on a new version of the manual.
Bobby, have you attempted to collimate your BRC or are you using it as is?
