Re: [APML] P100f push 1
Hi and thanks! Herm. I took the two images two days apart at Joshua
Tree. Temp was about 40-44 *F and humidity was low both nights. Very
little wind. Both manually guided with focusing by the out-of-focus
method + detachable 6x finder on the Nikon F3. Telescope: 85mm SV.
Mount: GM8.
I really like the Fuji P100F, but realize the film shines best with
longish exposures. Its grain seems nearly invisible and its colour
response is balanced with long exposures to 90min. Single exposures can
stand on their own merit, but now in the age of Registar and
gazillion-stacked CCD images, two or more seems natural to up the colour
density and further resolve and smooth things. With a fast, autoguided
scope of larger diameter, one can only guess how this film would
perform. You have such a system, do you not?
Admittedly, I've been thinking of hypering the stuff, as I believe Jerry
did the with the slower Fuji positive films, but it seems a task better
spread out among several adventurous sorts in order to get a rapid
resolve. It is a unique film, worth some serious consideration. And
with a smile, I might say its one of film's last noble attempts to
compete with digital. Stephen
