RE: [APML] Latest film reviews

Bruce,

Well if you are a risk taker (h2 is very dangerous) your times are very short indeed.  If I remember correctly at temps of about 40c TP in pure H2 is about 5 hours.  I did this once while at the TSP as I had run out of hypered film.  A guy had a tank of H2 and we hypered TP for 5 h with daytime heat only.  Ok it was around 102f peak temp.  If I remember my old Kodak article on hypering it would be 30c at 10h for a max density of 0.3.  Using the concept that every 7c = ½ time that gives about 5h at 40c.  That is just a guess.

-          h2 times are very short and not consistent if I remember correctly because slight temp shifts cause major time differences

-          in a controlled environment this is possible to make quick batches though

-          it is explosive!  Even slight sparks cause catastrophic results (the Hindenburg effect)

I would not do it, but then again I drink lots of coffee, and am considered dangerous with cutting tools J
