Hello hope I have the right group (:)),

Has anyone recently revised astro-photo film reviews with/without
hypering?  I have been doing ccd work for several years and my only film
use has been mostly un-hypered e200 or hypered TP in a 8" Schmidt
camera, and LE400 unhypered for prime focus shots via 4" f/6.4 Vixen ED.
However I am about to receive a somewhat larger instrument for use and
am interested in shooting some film.

Based on the constant flux of color films it seems the most predictable
route is to just shoot TP in an LRGB format.  Perhaps getting a filter
slider and just run one after another filter shot.  However, that color
is just as arguable as using color film (eg what mix of what filters
give what color) unless you go photometric colors.

I would prefer to go lrgb using TP for the L (maybe Ha filter) and a
good color base film for the 'pretty' part ala going 1xbin on ccd for l
and 2x on rgb.

First I need to find a color film that is actually available and that
shows some penchant for use in astrophotography.  Second, does anyone
have a starting point for hyper times on these color films?

As a trade, I use TP as follows;

- open reel, in tank
- bring tank to 60c pull vaccum using Sargent Welch pump for 1hr
- introduce Fg to 3 psi
- bake for 10 h @ 60c
- cool till tank is room temp
- evacuate gas
- put film in canisters with bits of silica gel and put on bottom shelf
of icebox.

The old Royal Gold (RG?) 200 was a good one but only availability is via
ebay it seems and I must be dense but cannot be sure I have found the
right version that is considered good.  LE400 is a bit too grainy,
although available still through several vendors (it also is very red).
E200 works, but is a bit weak in blues and is slow after 10' (man I do
love shooting Schmidt camera times!).  Supra seems to have suffered end
of life, and I just don’t know what is left.
