Here is how I would mount my 210mm with one 4.5 Orion ring and the camera
body on the single camera post tripod mount. I designed the setup this
way as a covertable setup. I just never shot pb much, except for the recent
leonid shots which I used a 50mm lens with no front support. The
4.5" orion rings are cheap, I drilled and tapped the holes myself. I also
give the link to the main guidescope setup. Notice how I use a rigid ring
for the rear mount, that makes the whole setup really tight, to minimize
any flexure issues. .

I may try some pb shots this month, now with all the talk, and I do have the "found" roll of PPF sitting here on my desk going bad. Maybe try the 210mm on some shots of the Orion region. m.. The STV had great numbers and the polar alignment was good so I suspect flexure. How many of you feel it's necessary to use a 3-point ring to steady a 300mm lens on a pb bracket? If most feel it is, what size Losmandy ring is needed? Thanks, Warren --
