[APML] New to AP

Hello all,

I'm new to this list and to astrophotography as well.
While browsing the web for astronomy references I came across some amazing
pictures that I thought were taken from the Hubble or a ground-based
observatory, only after reading more into it I started discovering that
these shots were made by people like you, amazing stuff.

I have always been interested in Astronomy and Photography, never as a hobby
though, more of a curiosity. Well, needless to say, I think the bug bit
really hard after attending a Leonids star party in Connecticut and meeting
some really interesting people there, including this gentleman who was
fidgeting with a weird contraption made of wood with a camera on top he kept
turning, once a minute.

Well, I built a barn-door tracker last week (with someone's help that
understands wood-working much more than I do) and I've been waiting to go
out and "see what happens". The problem is that here in the North-East, the
last clear night we've had was November 18. :-( and my Pentax k-1000 sits
idle.

This is a very professional list and I know I will learn much from you all.

Take care !!!

Alex Lazen
