Has anyone ever tried using one of the 500mm f/8 mirror lenses
for astrophotography? They seem to be relatively inexpensive and allot of
manufacturers have them.

These lenses look attractive for astrophotography, but
everyone I have spoken to about them complain of lousy focus, particularly on
the edges of the image.
