Hi Alan. I was asking the same questions about processing 2 years ago and
never really found useful sources. Chuck's article on levels adjustment is a
key part; plus many 'net articles are availiable by several APML'ers. But
the best advice for you is to just dive right in and play with the images.
It's as much an art as science anyway.
I'd recomend the S-20 photosmart by HP, but one of the Polaroids (4000?)
might be worth any extra $$ it costs. You for sure want a scanner that scans
negatives at high resolution. The only con to the S-20 is it's lowered
performance for slides and TP.
If you can afford Adobe Photoshop one of these days you'll have an excellent
processing program.
