Hi Don:
No, it's not necessary to have precise alignment of the imaging scope with
the guide scope: as long they're pointing to within a degree or two of each
other, you should be fine. Of course with fixed rings, you'll be somewhat
limited as to your guide stars; adjustable rings give you a much greater
number of choices that can be centered on the chip of your guiding CCD. One
other caution: if your primary (now guiding) scope is much longer than the
Megrez, watch out for the end of the OTA encroaching on the image.
