[APML] Imageprocessing challenge

Hi,

I'm not really familiar with digital image processing but I will try
to step into this field and learning.
What kind of book do you recommend to start ?
I have read about "The handbook of astronomical image processing" ?

Is it good ?

I have made a image of the vela nebula in 1998 where it is barely
visible. If anybody is interested in processing an interesting object which
is barely visible on the original negativ I can send it via email.
The image format is tif (original size 8.6 MM). I will compress it with zip.
