Re: [APML] New and old photos ... Moon and Saturn
Mikkel,
A couple of days away from programming? Does this mean that you have finished
implementing remote telescope control into the sky charting program? <g>
You have done a great job on processing Gitte's image of the Saturn occultation.
Gitte sent me the full-resolution version of the image last night and I think it
look absolutely wonderful! Seeing all of the Moon and not just a small part of
it, together with Saturn really show the difference in scale!!
I watched the occultation from DSE's Star Meeting last Saturday. Together with
Stig Foss and Ståle Kildahl I was trying to record the event on a DV camera
using my new SBIG STV connected to Ståle's 10" LX200. The seeing was terrible
that night, but considering that this was actually first light with SBIG STV,
I'm quite pleased with the result. I hope to be able to extract some frames from
the movie and post to my website before long. I might even try to make a small
animation.
I find your reprocessed versions of your images better than the old ones. The
larger image scale makes the images look a little more grainy though -
especially the M45 shot. Maybe you should try BGSMOOTH to compensate for this?
Best regards,
Arne
