[APML] New and old photos ... Moon and Saturn
Hi all,
After some days being able to tear myself away from programming of sky charting
software, I found time to process some old and new images. Nothing fancy, but
just to see how much what I've learned can help to get the images better.
The first one is from last Saturday the 3rd with Saturn passing behind the Moon
here in Norway. A friend of mine, Gitte Rydberg, took this image with an 8"
using SCT ISO 100 film (more info I was not able to drag out of her). I got the
job of processing the images in Photoshop 6.0.1 and the result is a stacking of
three different exposures. The images were taken right after the occultation was
over. Personally I think the result is quite nice :) The difference in scale is
quite striking!

Two other old images of my own which I've reprocessed:

and their original versions:

Both from the same scans, actually. Reasonably happy
with these two, but they certainly can get better. I think I'll try getting
better negatives instead... at least of M 45 :)
The black line in the upper part of the originals is in fact from the scanner. A
very expensive drum scanner!
Comments very welcome!
