Because they don't know what they are talking about? <g> My brother-in-law
is a professional who specializes in studio work. When I was doing pro work
it was mainly architectural photography. I started with Mamiya equipment,
hated it, and eventually got around to using Hasselblad (Zeiss) equipment and
was tickled pink with the results. My brother-in-law has tried a variety
of equipment himself and now will only use Mamiya.
Initially he bandied the same phrases around about one being "warm" and the
other "cold". But careful comparison between the two showed no difference
in colour. The difference was that the Mamiya when not focused at infinity
was not as sharp as the Zeiss lenses. It wasn't a dramatic difference, but
you could look at two prints and tell that there was a difference. The very
slight lack of sharpness in the Mamiya was giving it the "warm" look which
appealed to the portrait photographer, but which made my architectural images
look lousy, and the reverse was happening with the Zeiss lenses.

When have they ever stopped? <g>.
