[APML] Going Crazy @ f/22!
Hi all,
While most of you were enjoying the aurora tonight, I've been on my computer
killing time on a cloudy night ;o(
I reshot NGC7662 recently, and since it's an object with such a high surface
brightness, I decided to get crazy! (Well, actually I already was <g>) I
attached a 2x teleconverter to my OM1, and exposed Fuji Provia 100F for 2
hours @ f/22! Even then, it's slightly underexposed but it's a better
overall result than my previous 30 minute version at f/11:

On another night I tried the same setup on the core of M42 for an 80 minute
exposure. Clouds limited me to only 1 successful exposure, and caused a few
minor guiding problems so a reshoot is planned, along with some shorter
exposures to capture some Trapezium detail. But I'm still happy with it. For
now <g>:

Realistically, stacking two or more f/11 exposures would probably beat these
shots. And a good CCD camera for these subjects is still a few years off for
me. But it was interesting giving f/22 a try!
