RE: [APML] OT Firewire 1394

I too have had no problems at all running the SS120 under Win2000 with a
SCSI-2 card. Worked the first time out of the box and every time since.

The same computer has a firewire card, but I decided not to fiddle with it,
due to some reports of bugginess I had read about the SS120 and firewire.
In fact, I added the SCSI card just for the SS120.

The firewire card does work beautifully with DV video - perfect, in fact,
including machine control of my DV editing machine, etc. I still would not
risk using it with the 120 for scanning purposes. I believe the limiting
speed factor in the scanner is more likely mechanical, rather than the data
transfer rate, so you would probably get marginal benefits from firewire
anyway. Just a hunch - haven't tried it.
