Bobby,
It's a shame. I'm running Win2K, have the D-Link DFW-500 connecting my SprintScan 120. It's fast and has been stable on my system, going on 3 months use now. The Firewire adapter has 3 ports on it, and will allow me to do networking in the house. Pretty cool.
I share yours and others' concern over Polaroid's ability to support the scanner, but for now, the product is working fine for me.

I think the 120 is supposed to be compatable with win 98 second edition, but
I'm about to chicken out on the firewire 1394. Tony mentioned lots of bugs.
The key factor in my mind is the uncertainty of Polaroid's future support.
I'd hate to get involved in needing a lot of tech support and/or software
patches that might be less than adequate because of Polaroid's financial
position so I think the best choice will be the proven SCSI interface.
The 120 is the SCSI-2.
