Bobby,There are multiple SCSI standards but I believe scanners usually use the
lower speed standards such as SCSI-2. Fast harddrives tend to support
the higher speed standards. You will have to look up your manual. Please
see the folowing for some discussion on SCSI standards.http://www.zdnet.com/pcmag/pctech/content/solutions/hw1709a.htm
Firewire is very fast 400Mb/s and should be much faster than SCSI. I am
not sure if it makes a difference in scanning speeds as you might not be
limited by the transfer speed. If you have a SS120 Polaroid, the
advertisements states that it works with Firewire but read the fine
print in the manual. They only support Firewire for Win2000. So if you
have Win98 etc it will not work. I have tried it. I've also looked up
Polaroids website for software updates but there is no mention of
software updates to support Firewire with Win98/ME/XP etc. I may have
not have searched thoroughly though.
