[APML] red and blue tails on stars?
I recently worked up an image of M45 on Fuji Provia 100F. The image is
from a 90 minute exposure through an AP 130mm f/6 with field flattener
and Nikon N90s camera. The slide was scanned with a Polaroid Sprintscan
4000. The bright stars on the lower part of the frame have red and blue
tails going down. See <http://www.unc.edu/~pedit/lower.jpg> for an
example. Bright stars from the upper part of the frame have red and
blue tails going up. Any thoughts on what is causing this would be
appreciated?
A 1/2 scale image (2000 x 1500, 687 kb) of the central part of the frame
is at <http://www.unc.edu/~pedit/m45-2000.jpg>.
