Re: [APML] (Semi-OT) QuickCam autoguiding
Hi Carlos
The best software that I have found for the B&W QuickCam is guider.exe
by Marty Neimi(sp) and Bob May.
It provides everything that you would want from a low buck autoguider. I
am in the process of setting one up. I have it coupled to a 500mm f/8
mirror lens for autoguiding up to 300mm camera lenses (I hope).
If you do a google search for guider.exe you should come up with a hit
for Marty's site. If not let me know and I can e-mail the zipped files
to you. It is not very large and fits on a floppy disk unzipped.
The problem will be that you will need a serial to parallel converter to
put on the serial port for your mount. This is the point that I am at
now.
There are several schematics available on the web if you want to build
your own.
Or if you are using a desktop pc you could add a second parallel port
and modify the code (Marty and Bob give the Q-basic source code but you
will need a compiler) to write to the parallel port.
If you have any questions please feel free to drop me an e-mail.
